About Us

Dr. Rhett Richardson opened his private practice, under the name of Spec’s Vision Center, in March of 1990. He wanted to have a more personal role in his patient’s eye care needs and found that this was the best way to provide quality eyewear at an affordable cost for any budget. Dr. Richardson retired in June of 2018 and Eye Guys proudly became the new owners.

Cataracts

A cataract is a clouding that develops in the crystalline lens of the eye or in its envelope (lens capsule), varying in degree from slight to complete opacity and obstructing the passage of light. Early in the development of age-related cataracts, the power of the lens may be increased, causing near-sightedness (myopia), and the gradual yellowing and opacification of the lens may reduce the perception of blue colors. Cataracts typically progress slowly to cause vision loss, and are potentially blinding if untreated. The condition usually affects both eyes, but almost always one eye is affected earlier than the other.

Cataract Diagnosis Service

Patients with eye trouble similar to what is outlined above should schedule an appointment with our doctors, who can examine and diagnose cataracts. Upon diagnosis, our doctors and staff will work to assist in connecting the patient with one of our ophthalmologists in our Aiken or Augusta office.

Cataracts are a common cause of poor vision, particularly for the elderly, but they are treatable. Your ophthalmologist can tell you whether a cataract or some other problem is the cause for your vision loss or discomfort, and will help you decide if cataract surgery is appropriate for you.

Please contact us to set up an appointment and you’ll begin your first step to better vision.

LASIK-Vision Correction

Laser Vision Correction Exams

We are your first step in your LASIK – Laser Vision Correction journey by providing the eye exam that will determine whether you are a good candidate for the procedure. If our doctors find you a viable candidate, they can refer you to our main location in Augusta, Georgia.

When you contact us to make your appointment, please mention that you want to be evaluated for vision correction treatment.
